George wants to account for the labor associated with the affected fixtures, down to a component such as three-quarter-inch EMT, at the level where the difference occurs.

In an illustrative example from the interview, a unit type appears 20 times. The team builds and checks the first unit, then copies it for the other 19. If that unit type changes, the team removes the repeated copies, updates the original unit estimate, and recreates the remaining copies from the revised version.
