Frequently Asked Questions
Q. I'm using the Standard (or Short) Bid Template in my Bid Recap. The number of hours I see on my Direct Labor tab is less than what I see for my total hours on the Top Sheet. If I multiply my Labor rate times the total hours, I seem to be losing Labor dollars as well.
Q. I am on the Quotes screen, but I cannot select a quote.
Q. How can I see 'Phase Totals' on the takeoff Screen?
Q. How can I find my jobs and database so I can back them up to a CD?
Q. Where are the buttons to create new phases and the Phase Import feature? I can't find them.
Q. How do I print a complete list of materials for the job?

The Estimating Table
Preparing for Takeoff
When it comes to preparing an estimate, every electrical
estimator should be familiar with the National Electrical Code
(NEC). Nearly all inspection authorities adopt the NEC with
or without supplemental amendments.
NEC standards require
that materials be listed by a testing laboratory like
Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. (UL); and typically all
authorities will accept UL listed materials.
As an estimator,
you must be knowledgeable and familiar with local codes and
also be aware of the NEC version the city or town has
currently adopted. Not adhering to local requirements can
result in expensive fines and costly do-overs!

The Trainer’s Corner
Job Spec: Takeoff Prompts
When you take off material in IntelliBid, you are presented with one or more questions on the Quantity Dialog screen. We refer to these as Takeoff Prompts. IntelliBid has built-in formulas that use the answers to these prompts to calculate the amount of each item needed and possibly the labor factor as well.
If you would like to attend one of our in-depth training classes that includes a hands-on practice with JobSpec ,
