Founded in 1951 by Melvin Kallenbach, Mel-Kay Electric has long been regarded as one of Southern Indiana's leading electrical contractors. Over 50 years of electrical installation for a significant number of major industrial, commercial, and institutional projects in the Tri-State. Our highly skilled electricians have been trained in accordance with the standards required by the IBEW, and many of them have advanced training in specialized areas to better meet the needs of our customers. In addition, our work force of electricians and technicians is stable, and we think among the finest and most professional in the electrical and communication industry. With one eye on old-fashioned service and the other on business technology needs for the future, Mel-Kay has found a niche in the commercial, industrial and professional markets. Mel-Kay has just completed the New Evansville-Vanderburgh Central Library facility located in Evansville, Indiana. This facility began in 2002 and was just completed in August 2004.

Located on a prominent corner in Downtown Evansville, this library project incorporates a 97,700 square foot three-story historic building, which houses administrative offices and a public meeting room.

Mel-Kay’s Contract included the 3000 amp service.		The Contract called for over 1500 voice and data drops with a fiber optic backbone.

The 100,000 square foot limestone-clad library building has two floors that include collections in open stacks, public service areas, computer labs and staff work areas.
